Here’s a list of the questions I get asked most often:

  • Where are you located?
    • As of October 1st, 2023, my office is located at Willow Tree at 1459 Corydon Ave
  • What is your availability?
    • My practice is currently full and I am not able to take new clients at this time.
    • I am available Tuesdays through Saturdays and schedule appointments at 9am, 10:30am, 1pm, and 2:30pm. I can meet either in person, online, or by phone during these times.
  • Do you work with couples? Teens? Families?
    • No. I work exclusively with individuals over 18.
  • How much do your sessions cost?
    • My current rate is $130 per 1-hour session
  • What is your cancellation policy?
    • Cancelled appointments with less than 24 hours’ notice will be invoiced at 50% of the fee for the scheduled session. 100% of the fee for the scheduled appointment will be invoiced for missed appointments without notice. The cancellation policy does not apply in cases of illness or emergencies.
  • What forms of payment do you accept?
    • My preference is for payments to be made by e-transfers (sent to genny@roomtobreathe.ca), but I also accept Visa and MasterCard.
  • Will you bill directly to my insurance company?
    • Not at this time. I will provide you with a receipt for you to claim our sessions.
    • I strongly recommend checking with your insurance provider to confirm your coverage prior to booking an appointment. Please ensure you have coverage for clinical social workers (MSW). If they ask for it, you can let them know that I’m registered with the Manitoba College of Social Workers (MCSW), number 2258.
  • Can you bill directly to FNIHB and NIHB?
    • Yes, but I will need some information from you before our initial meeting so that I can apply for authorization on your behalf.
  • What kind of therapy do you do?
    • I use a combination of EMDR therapy (take a look at these links for more information if you’d like to learn a bit about this approach: here’s a short video, and here’s an article), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and other therapeutic approaches to help folks navigate their way through various difficulties. 
  • What are your areas of special interest?

  • What do I need to do if I want to schedule an appointment?
    • If you haven’t already done so, send me an email at genny@roomtobreathe.ca or leave me a message at 204-955-9753 to let me know you’re interested.
    • We’ll then set up a time to have a quick telephone consult. The purpose of this is to make sure that I’m able to support you with your concerns and this also gives you an opportunity to make sure you feel comfortable with me before we book a full session.
    • If we decide to work together, we’ll book a time to meet and I’ll send you links to my consent form, which you can fill out online.
