What are Coping Cards?

Many of us know that when we feel strong emotions, it’s harder to think rationally. That also means it’s harder to remember what to do to help us bring our emotions under control. Each of the 18 Coping Cards has one coping strategy that you can utilize to help reduce the intensity of the emotion in real time.

How do they work?

Whether you’re feeling anxious, depressed, angry, or stressed out, pick a Coping Card from the deck and try that strategy. Coping Cards help because the problem-solving is already done for you. You just have to follow the instructions.

These, like any other coping strategies, will work more effectively if you first practice them when you’re not experiencing strong emotions. This not only helps to improve your skills, but it also counts as self-care! A solid, sustainable self-care routine helps to create a strong foundation for positive mental health.
